# Decionis Commerce Gate

> Commerce Gate stops the oversell, the below-cost price and the runaway refund before it reaches Walmart Marketplace, Shopify, Adobe Commerce or Dynamics 365 Business Central. It is an operations control plane: your ERP, repricer, checkout or AI agent tells it the order, price change, stock change, promotion, refund or return it is about to make, and Commerce Gate answers PROCEED, HOLD or ESCALATE with a signed Decision Dossier. What each platform enforces on its own, and what it can only answer, is stated on that platform's page. The CommerceGate MCP lets an AI agent ask the same question for all seven kinds of action in Shadow Mode, authorize a Dynamics 365 transaction with an enforced ALLOW or BLOCK, and read the evidence. It never writes to a marketplace or ERP.

## Operator outcomes

- PROCEED (API: APPROVE): The action is inside the published policy. Your tool may go ahead. This is a policy result, not user consent and not an execution token.
- HOLD (API: REVIEW): Stop. Leave the marketplace as it is and put the action in front of an operator.
- ESCALATE (API: ESCALATE): Stop. A named approver with the right authority must decide before the action is re-evaluated. The CommerceGate MCP reports this as HOLD.
- BLOCK (API: REJECT): Stop. The action is outside policy and is not retried.
- SHADOW: Watch-only. Decisions are recorded with a signed dossier and nothing executes. Walmart, Adobe Commerce and the MCP start here; Shopify rules are off until you turn them on.

## Operating model

1. Read the current platform, order, policy, and enforcement context.
2. Evaluate the exact proposed action through CommerceGate before a consequential commerce change.
3. Treat SHADOW as advisory. Treat HOLD, ESCALATE, BLOCK, an error, or missing evidence as a stop condition.
4. A PROCEED or ALLOW evaluation does not replace user intent, marketplace authorization, or a required execution grant.
5. When an evaluation returns a dossier identifier or evidence hash, preserve it with the downstream operational record.

CommerceGate does not replace an ERP, order-management system, repricer, storefront, marketplace, or human approver. It is the policy and evidence gate between the actor and those execution systems.

Each platform has its own answer. Walmart order acknowledgment and Adobe Commerce checkout fail open: if Decionis can't be reached, the order or checkout goes through and the gap is recorded. Shopify checkout fails closed by default, rule by rule, so a margin rule keeps protecting you; you can set individual rules to fail open. Its post-order inventory check only records a decision and never touches the order. Business Central has one company-wide setting, FAIL_OPEN or FAIL_CLOSED, and defaults to FAIL_OPEN. When an AI agent asks the CommerceGate MCP and gets an error instead of an answer, the agent must treat it as HOLD. Walmart refunds are rejected when the order is in the wrong state or the amount exceeds what is left to refund. A refund above the unattended limit in your policy escalates to a named approver, and a second refund on the same line is held for review; if the refund policy check itself cannot be reached, refunds up to the connector's fallback limit proceed and larger ones are held until it recovers.

Outcome mapping inside the MCP: APPROVE -> PROCEED, REVIEW -> HOLD, ESCALATE -> HOLD, REJECT -> BLOCK. Stop on HOLD, BLOCK, an error, or an ambiguous response.

The MCP accepts PRICE_CHANGE, INVENTORY_MUTATION, ORDER_ACCEPTANCE, FULFILLMENT_ACTION, PROMOTION_CHANGE, REFUND_REQUEST, and RETURN_AUTHORIZATION as generic or native-mapped Protocol Shadow preflights. It intentionally excludes marketplace acknowledge, ship, cancel, refund, enforcement-mode, and other downstream write operations.
Its separate commercegate_validate_erp_transaction tool calls the enforced Business Central or Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management guard. That guard returns ALLOW or BLOCK and, after policy clears, atomically authorizes the agent budget for the exact transaction; it does not post, release, modify, or otherwise write the transaction in the ERP.
Refund and oversell execution are connector-gated: the marketplace must expose the required API, the merchant must grant its scope, and the Commerce Gate connector must implement and enable that path. An MCP preflight does not prove those conditions.
